Education
“Instruments of Peace found that there is a great level of interest among the younger generation in peace and what it represents. There is an awareness that peace does not happen by chance, that peace is something that must be worked towards, that peace is possible only when people dedicate themselves to the path of peace. And that requires commitment, that requires work. And it’s something that has captured the imaginative energies of the younger generation who are interested in this topic, and who want to contribute towards building a society which is peaceful, and which promotes peace, and wants to extend the message of what peace can achieve. The greatest threat to peace is complacency. The greatest threat to peace is when we take it for granted, when we cease to be aware of the fact that peace requires work and dedication, and commitment. And that dedication must be made by individuals and societies and must be renewed from one generation to the next. That is the mission of Instruments of Peace. We welcome you to join us on our mission.”
[ Dr. Damian Bracken, Chairman - Instruments of Peace, Ireland ] On 21st September 2011, when Instruments of Peace launched the theme: “Peace is the ground we share” and “Peace is everybody’s business”, Dr. Damian Bracken, a historian of the School of History in the University College Cork, spoke about “St. Columbanus - Irish Peacemaker in the 6th - 7th Century”. In the near future, Instruments of Peace will roll out Peace Education Programmes. Please check back here if you are interested in joining any of the envisioned Peace Education events. One of the goals of Instruments of Peace is to establish the organisation as a student society in universities. If you are a university student interested to establish Instruments of Peace as a society in your university, please contact us. Among the plans of Instruments of Peace is an onliue MasterClass on how to live as a Peace Man or Peace Woman in today's highly-sophisticated and ultra- modern world where the values of peace, justice, the sacredness of life and the fragility of the environment are often ignored. Please contact us if you are interested in this particular plan. |
